Breeding Rules and Information
If you are not familiar with the breeding of model horses, please visit this site for a basic explanation. http//www.starrfyre.com/ipabra/pa-page.htm
Our horses will not be bred until they are four years of age, therefore, your foal must be at least four years younger than the stallion and five years younger than the mare. No mother/son, father/daughter breedings please.
Mares may only have one foal per year and available years are listed. All outside stallions must be approved before being bred to our mares. Please give a first and second choice of year foaled when requesting a breeding. Our listing is updated on a regular basis, but we can not guarantee that a certain year was not already requested.
Please be aware of color genetics, there are certain required color genes for certain colors. Foals that are tobiano, overo, dun, grey, roan, and few-spot leopard must have at l east one parent of that color. Keep in mind that two chestnuts will (almost!) always make a chestnut and that two overos can not make a tobiano. Also, be aware that palomino is NOT a registerable Arabian color and we will not accept them. We always recommend having one parent the same color of your foal.
We are not accepting most Schleich, unknown plastic, flocked, unknown china, Grand Champions brand, Barbie and like models, as foals from our models. The quality and attention to detail on the majority of these makes are just not up to show standards. An EXCEPTION to this rule would be if a horse you are requesting the service of be of one of these makes. Also, if a CM is by a lesser known artist, a photo must be submissioned. If you are unsure what your foals is, please send in a photo for approval.
IMPORTANT! Recently there has been a problem of horses being sold and the ID's going to another body and/or owner. If you sell your model that we have pedigreed please let us know. We will need to change the owner's name in our records. If you sell the model without the pedigree and do not keep the pedigree please return the ID to us. If you should offer the pedigree to another person the new body MUST be approved by us. If you keep the pedigree for another model, please tell us what body you will be using. Thank you!
Do not use any of these horses on this list without my permission! Also, please do not use the names of my horses. Some of these names took a bit of time to create and it would not be fair to swipe them for yourself. When naming your foal, feel free to use parts of their parent's names as that helps follow that line. The Dragon Star prefix/suffix is reserved only for horses owned by Dragon Star Farm.
With every breeding the following information is needed to complete the pedigree; foal's name, age/year foaled, gender, breed, color, markings, make/mold, owner, and stable name. If other parent is not owned by Dragon Star Farm the same information is needed as well as a three to four generation pedigree.
We will only accept BSO breedings if a model body is intended for that ID OR if the resulting foal will be registered with NAMTOBA. Our horses that are listed as BSOs are intended to eventually have a model body. We accept aging and non-aging foals, but be aware that a year WILL be selected for non-aging foals to keep our records in order.
We would love to hear of your foal's progress! If your foal has won any outstanding awards in the show ring or has won out on the track, let us know! We have a Foal Gallery where we would love to list your model, it's photo and information about him/her.
Our pedigrees are sent via e-mail as a Word attachment.
We now have a limit of ten requests at a time. You may send more requests when the first group is completed and the pedigrees are sent back to you. If more than ten requests are sent at a time the rest will be returned.
If you would still like to send your requests the "old fashioned way" please put enough stamps on your large SASE to return your pedigrees to you. There is a flat rate of twenty cents per foal if you chose to receive your pedigree in the mail, this covers the cost of paper used.
NOTICE: If you are looking for real horses, sorry, you have come to a MODEL HORSE site! Any real horses mentioned on this site are for pedigree research purposes only and are designated with an "-r" after their name. Pedigree assignment, photo and live showing, as well as the simulated racing of model horses or paper identities promote the research and understanding of equine color genetics and bloodlines.
